ABOUT Blue Oak Legal

Services

Experience

Experience

I work with companies from early-stage startups to mature businesses. The bulk of my practice is employment law, dispute resolution, investigations, and corporate compliance, but I can also take on commercial contracts, tech transactions, and product compliance.

For a number of startups, I serve as fractional General Counsel: triaging what comes in, handling what I can in-house, and bringing in or managing outside counsel for anything else. I also represent senior executives in certain circumstances.

Experience

I'm BigLaw trained and tech company tested, with nearly 20 years' experience advising companies of all types, sizes, and stages.

I've also founded and run my own startup, Dyspute.ai, so I understand the pressures founders are under firsthand, not just as outside counsel.

I'm an early, hands-on user of AI in legal practice, and I'm on the employment law referral list for several leading venture capital firms.

Cost

Experience

Cost

Big city advice with small town rates. I'm fully-remote with a home base in New Hampshire, which keeps my rates low. I also use AI tools and the latest in legal tech to work as efficiently as possible.

My rate is the same for every client — currently $400/hour — regardless of company size or project complexity. I offer flat fees for certain work so you know what you're paying upfront.

GET TO KNOW THE FOUNDER & CEO

Meet Renee Jackson

Blue Oak Legal was founded by Renee Jackson. Renee grew up in a blue collar family outside of Boston, played college basketball at Columbia University, and then cut her teeth as a litigation paralegal at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City. She earned a JD/MBA from the University of Connecticut, trained in employment law and litigation at Nixon Peabody, and then took her legal skills in-house to Zynga, Splunk, Wish, and Clutter. Renee held several executive roles in Legal, HR, and Compliance before becoming a founder herself.

After over a decade in the Bay Area, she now lives a quieter life in New Hampshire with her partner and their dogs. She teaches Negotiations to business school students at the University of New Hampshire and is the Founder & CEO of Dyspute.ai, an AI-powered dispute resolution platform.

Renee brings her distinct background and unique experience to every client engagement.

WHAT TO EXPECT

I work the way you already work.

You're on Google Workspace. So am I. Contracts, redlines, and shared documents live in Google Drive, not a clunky portal you have to log into and remember a password for. If your team runs on Slack, I'm happy to work there too.

Speed matters more than most firms admit. When you send me something, you'll hear back the same day, often within the hour. Startups move fast, and slow legal advice is close to no legal advice.

I use AI throughout my practice, but the output is only ever a starting point. What you're paying for is what happens next: nearly two decades of judgment, strategy, and pattern recognition applied on top of it. It means faster turnaround without cutting corners on the thinking that actually matters.
